A Quick look back to the History of SSSI #sssi #sociology #history

Almost 20 years ago, in Summer 1997, Symbolic Interaction published a Special Issue (Vol. 20(2)) concerned with the history of the Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction. The Special Issue co-edited by Michael G. Flaherty and Donna Daren includes 12 essays by the co-editors and 10 interactionists who were actively involved in the creation of our Society. For those with an interest in SSSI, its history and  relationship to ASA this Special Issue is an unmissable source. It covers personal memories of meetings in Gregory Stone’s basement as well as discussions about the initial management of the Society: were presidents to be elected or were lots to be drawn out of a head? Please see below the Table of content of the Special Issue.
