“Remembering Sherri Cavan” message from Dimitri N. Shalin #sssi #sociology

Greetings Everybody:

I reach out to you because most of you have contributed to the Goffman Archives and knew Sherri Cavan who died on February 20, 2016.  The cause is metastatic esophageal cancer diagnosed two months ago.  She chose not to have a treatment, relying on hospice instead.

The EGA now has a page “Remembering Sherri Cavan” where her friends and colleagues post comments about Sherri, http://cdclv.unlv.edu//ega/comments/remembering_cavan.html.  You can also find there the Shalin-Cavan correspondence from the years 2008-2009, http://cdclv.unlv.edu//ega/Correspondence/sc_dh_correspondence_08-09.html.  This excerpt bears on the creation of Erving Goffman Archives, ethnographic interviews, and related matters.

If you’d like to write a few lines about Sherri, I would be glad to add them to this page.  Feel free to pass word about this memorial to people who knew Sherri Cavan.

With kind wishes, Dmitri

Dmitri N. Shalin
